Crystalens

Crystalens - Accommodative IOL

Crystalens® is an innovative new cataract treatment available at our San Diego locations. In fact, Dr. Davies was the first surgeon in San Diego County and among the first in the nation to implant the Crystalens® in patients.

Crystalens® is a cataract replacement lens that works in conjunction with the eye muscles to provide clearer, stronger vision. What sets Crystalens apart is its unique design, which includes “hinges.” Hinges allow the replacement lens to move with the eye, thus permitting effortless focusing on near, far, and mid-distant objects – just like your eye’s natural lens did when you were younger.

The InnoVision team will take precise measurements to insure the correct lens power selection for your eye. Standard (single vision) lens implants do not have the ability to provide a full range of vision. Most people who have single vision lens implants must wear glasses or contacts for middle and near vision. 98% of patients in the FDA trial who had the Crystalens® implanted in both eyes were able to both drive and read the newspaper without glasses or contacts.

Though the lens is primarily designed for cataract replacement, many patients are opting to have this procedure instead of LASIK. Dr. Davies will be able to offer the right course of action for your vision correction and provide the information necessary for you to make the best decision.

ReSTOR - Apodized Diffractive IOL

The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is a unique technology that can provide cataract patients with quality vision throughout the entire vision spectrum - near, far, and in between - with increased independence from contacts or glasses.

The ReSTOR® IOL is designed using an 'apodized diffractive' technology which has been used for years in microscopes and telescopes to improve image quality.  Apodization is the gradual tapering of the diffractive steps from the center to the outside edge of the lens to create a smooth transition of light between the distance, intermediate, and near focal points.  Diffraction involves the bending or spreading of light to multiple focal points as it passes through the lens.  On the ReSTOR® IOL the center of the lens surface consist of an apodized diffractive optic.  This means that the series of tiny steps in the center area work together to focus light for near through distance vision.

Rezoom™ - Multi-Focal IOL

The Rezoom™ IOL is a second generation refractive multi-focal lens that provides cataract patients with another option that will allow them to be less dependent on reading glasses after surgery.  The Rezoom™ Balanced View Optics technology distributes light over five optic zones allow the patient to see up close and at distance.
