Endoscopic CycloPhotocoagulation, or ECP, is a promising new type of glaucoma treatment introduced to San Diego by Dr. Davies. During Endoscopic CycloPhotocoagulation, a laser is used to treat the the fluid-producing “ciliary” portion of the eye. Generally performed in conjunction with cataract surgery, Endoscopic CycloPhotocoagulation has been shown to lower intra-ocular pressure and has helped reduce patients’ dependence on glaucoma medication. In fact, many ECP patients are no longer at risk of vision loss from glaucoma.
