NearVision Conductive Keratoplasty (CK), available at our practice, is an exciting alternative to laser surgery. Devised to treat patients over age 40 who no longer wish to wear reading glasses, NearVision conductive keratoplasty is completed with the aid of the only FDA-approved technology available to treat presbyopia—the ViewPoint™ Conductive Keratoplasty System.
During NearVision CK, we will use a pen-sized tool to apply radiofrequency (RF) in a circular pattern. This pattern allows for the most accurate results. The procedure, performed while the eyes are anesthetized with drops, is generally pain-free; in fact, you won’t need to wear a patch and most patients can go back to work within one or two days of the procedure. However, you may notice some general discomfort, such as scratchiness, in the eye, for 24 to 48 hours. Your vision should peak within one week’s time. Further, results are quite favorable: 98 percent of patients were able to read newspaper type without the aid of corrective eyewear.
