Standard LASIK eye surgery requires that the corneal flap be made with a blade, which can be somewhat risky since the blade is hand-held. But the IntraLase laser, when substituted for the blade, allows the surgeon to create the corneal flap accurately and with much more control. It also allows for a highly personalized flap that more closely suits the individual patient’s needs. IntraLase is deemed up to 100 times more effective than traditional LASIK tools; therefore, this type of laser eye surgery is becoming increasingly popular in San Diego and throughout Southern California.
IntraLase now makes it possible to provide laser eye surgery to many patients who couldn’t undergo laser surgery otherwise because they had thin corneas.
With today’s amazing technology advances, Dr. James Davies is proud to offer his patients their best vision possible utilizing state-of-the-art excimer laser technology. He treats patients with a broad beam scanning excimer laser or a flying spot excimer laser that tracks eye movement 4,000 times a second and adjusts the treatment for any inadvertent movement of the eye.
